Femi Otedola sold controlling shares in Forte Oil to focus on power generating plant.

The chairman of Forte Oil, Femi Otedola a farewell message to his successor. “A few years ago, my team and I embarked on an arduous task of transforming a moribund petroleum marketing business, African Petroleum Plc (formerly British Petroleum) into Forte Oil Plc; a leading integrated solutions provider with solid footprints in downstream petroleum marketing, Upstream Services and Power Generation and one in which we built intrinsic value to the benefits of our shareholders. In line with my principle of business focus, we have divested from our marketing and upstream businesses and shall from now on focus and consolidate on the gains of our power generation business, Geregu Power Plc. We wish our successors the very best and urge them to build on our legacies which have been established since 1964 ūüôŹūüŹŅ …F.Oteūüí≤”, he said.

The plan to sell his control shares of Forte oil began in December 2018. He sold his stake to focus on the recently acquired Amperion power distribution company.

Amperion Power plant was acquired for $132 million dollars. It has 414 megawatt power plant and Femi Otedola want to be a leader in the power industry.

According to Forbes “Publicly traded Forte Oil made the announcement on Monday in a press release signed by the company‚Äôs General Counsel, Akinleye Olagbende.

‚ÄúForte Oil Plc hereby notifies the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, shareholders and the investing community that its majority shareholder, Mr Femi Otedola, has reached an agreement with the Prudent Energy team, investing through Ignite Investments and Commodities Limited, to divest of his full 75 per cent direct and indirect shareholding in the company‚Äôs downstream business,‚ÄĚ.

Airtel Africa looking to raise ‚Äč$750 m via IPO through London Stock Exchange

Airtel Africa telecommunication company is planning to go public and the company will list on the London Stock Exchange.

“The offer is targeted to raise $750 million (plus primary greenshoe option of up to 15 percent) and will be used to reduce net debt,”¬†Bharti¬†Airtel¬†said in a regulatory filing.

It added that Airtel Africa intends to proceed with an initial public offering for admission and listing of its shares on the main market of the London Stock Exchange (premium segment).

Additionally, Airtel Africa is also considering listing its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

MTN Nigeria Communications Plc: Listing by Introduction of the Entire Issued 20,354,513,050 Ordinary Shares of 2 Kobo Each at N90 per Share on the Premium Board of The Nigerian Stock Exchange

The entire issued 20,354,513,050 ordinary shares of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (MTN Nigeria or the Company) was listed by Introduction on the Premium Board of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (The Exchange) on, Thursday, 16 May 2019.

The listing is following The Exchange’s approval of the application to list the Company’s entire issued 20,354,513,050 ordinary shares of N0.02 each at N90 per share. The trading symbol of MTN Nigeria is MTNN.

Nestle Nigeria PLC posted a record revenue of 71 billion

Nestle Nigeria PLC reported its first-quarter earning report for the year 2019 and the company boasts a remarkable N 71 Billion in revenue.  The company also saw a 5.2 percent growth for the year 2019 from the year 2018. 

The total profit came in at N 12.8 Billion beating the estimate of N 8.6 Billion from the previous year.    The company recorded a gross profit of N31, 468,870 for the year 2019; marketing and distribution expenses came in at -10,371,484.

Nestle stock price has been up more than 100 percent since 2017. The stock is trading at N 1,520.00 as of today April 6, 2019.  The stock was selling at N 776 in the year 2017.   The 52 weeks high range is N 1,340.00 to N 1,645.00.  It’s market cap increased to N 1.205 T, it’s trading at 25 times price per earning and it paying 3.85 percent in dividends.

Nestle’s financial statement

This statement for the period ending on March 31, 2019. The company reported N 19,122,202 profit before tax and it did not declare any new dividend price at the time of this report.

Operation result shows that Nestle has a positive quarter. 2019 reported number was up by 66% compared to the reported comprehensive income for the year 2018.

It’s a good practice for directors to be invested in companies that they are associated with. This will ensure that they make the right decisions for stakeholders because their money is also on the line. According to the recent report, only one director owns shares in Nestel company.

Mr. David Ifezulike is the Chairman of Nestle and has 56,255 shares in the company. The other directors have no shares in the company. The most alarming discovery is that the Managing Director and CEO of Nestle does not have any shares in the company.

Companies usually buy their own shares in other to reduce the number of outstanding shares. A company can boost investor‚Äôs confidence by buying back it own stocks. This process allows the company to become its own investor; as a result, it reduces the number of outstanding shares. This can also improve the company‚Äôs earnings because only a few are left to claim the company‚Äôs earnings. Nestle reported that it didn’t buyback any shares this past quarter.

Dividend unchanged, the company will stick to the 3.85 % dividend payout. Nestle cleared the dividend on March 4, 2019. Payments will be made to investors who are invested in Nestle stocks by May 10, 2019. The payment date is May 29, 2019.

Expressposting Nestle review

Nestle did not give enough information on how each of their brand product is performing on the market. They did not provide future guidance on what investors should expect for the next fiscal year. They did not discuss cutting cost or mention plans that will add value to the share price.

No innovations; Nestle does not have any new product on the pipeline. The stock price is still cheap, the company earned a total profit of N 12.8 billion and they are expected to earn more for the next quarter. The stock has been down about 1 percent year to date. We believe that Nestle will do it’s best to improve the share value for the benefit of the investors.

Jumia is preparing to list on New York Stock Exchange for $1.1 Billion locking out Nigerian Investors

The company is expected to go public to raise about $250 million to fund its business. The company is a market hub for online selling and buying. They started in Nigeria and they can be compared to Amazon and Alibaba. Jumia is the place to go to buy household products like technology devices, sneakers, home goods, toilet papers, sneakers and they offer services like hotel bookings, food deliveries, and other things.  

The company is valued at $1.1 billion dollars. ” The filing documents show that the company‚Äės operating losses increased from $173-million in 2017 to $190-million in 2018. On the other hand, turnover increased at a faster rate, suggesting the company is heading in the direction of profitability‚ÄĚ – MSN. 

If the company lists on New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), it will lock out Nigerian investors because only American citizens are allowed to invest in any stocks listed on NYSE
